The Market Intern will be responsible for selling produce to low-income community members from our Downtown Veggie Cart, at local farmers markets, and through our Foodshare program. They will create marketing materials used on social media, website, and advertisements based on their interactions with our customer base. A portion of working hours will be spent mentoring and managing our teen employees in customer service, salesmanship, and the importance of local produce.
Applicants must have prior experience working with teenagers, have knowledge of multiple social media platforms and paper marketing, & have interest in public health or agriculture business. Key attributes includes the ability to work a flexible schedule, feel confident working in a diverse community, & the ability to motivate and train teens in customer service. The Market Assistant must be open to one’s own personal growth and the capability to uphold the standards of the community. We are looking for someone who enjoys working on a team, while is independent, dependable, organized, flexible, and has a sense of humor. At least one year of college is preferred.
Market Assistant may begin as soon as May and are expected to work until mid-August. Hours are approximately 9am-6pm Monday-Friday. Some Saturdays may be required. In addition working on site selling, there will be staff meetings once a week and occasional after work activities with students (i.e. camping trip, career tours, pool days, bowling, ect).
Paid compensation will be discussed.
